To Heal a Heart, a contemporary romance from Jana Richards

Please help us give a very warm welcome to Jana Richards back to the blog this week. Jana is here to share her upcoming release To Heal a Heart. To Heal a Heart is a small town contemporary western romance and part of Jana’s Masonville series. Welcome, Jana! We are all so excited to hear more about To Heal a Heart.

Q&A with Jana Richards:

Where is your favorite place to write?
Right now, my favorite place to write is at my desktop computer in my messy office. It may be a mess, but it’s my favorite mess.

What inspires you as an author?
Being a storyteller. Telling stories about people falling in love will always inspire me.

Why do you write romance and why your genre of romance?
I don’t think there’s anything more wonderful than falling in love, so I suppose that’s why I write romance. It’s the genre I most enjoy reading as well. I’ve written different sub-genres of romance – romantic suspense, romantic comedy, contemporary romance, historical romance set during World War Two. Lately, I’ve been gravitating toward small town romance, which is the genre of my latest release, TO HEAL A HEART, and my latest series. I guess I like the idea of a community where people know each other and look out for each other. And sometimes drive each other crazy because they know too much about each other!

What are you working on next and when can we expect to see it?
I’m currently working on book three of the Masonville series which I’m calling “Unexpected”. Ben and Jamie rush into marriage in order to retain custody of Ben’s stepchildren. To their surprise they discover an unexpected love. But when Jamie has to choose between what she believes is best for the children and her relationship with Ben, their love is tested. Can their new-found family, and their love, survive?
When can you expect to see it? If all goes well, hopefully early in 2021.

What would you do if you couldn’t write?
If I was physically unable to write, I would probably read even more than I do now. I love audiobooks so I’d likely listen to a lot more of those. But honestly, there’s not much else I’d rather do than write. I plan to string words together until I’m too old and feeble to operate a keyboard. And when that happens, maybe I’ll dictate my words to a secretary just like Barbara Cartland did!

How do you spend your free time?
Free time? What an interesting concept. Working at a part-time day job, writing, and also marketing my work takes up a lot of time. But I do enjoy working in the garden and flower beds at this time of year, and of course I love reading. I can do that any time of year!

Thank you for having me on your blog, Madison. I’d like to tell readers that my newest release, TO HEAL A HEART, book 2 in my Masonville small town romance series, will release on June 15, 2020. Until June 12, get your e-copy of the book at the Pre-Order Sale price of $2.99!

Excerpt from To Heal a Heart:

“Do you remember the last summer I saw you, just before I joined the Marines? Your brothers were both working for the summer, so you came out to your grandparents’ farm on your own.”

Blair’s face grew hot at the memory. She pulled his shirt from his jeans and laid her palm against the warm, hard muscles of his abdomen. “You mean the summer I threw myself at you and you totally rejected me? No, I barely remember that at all.”

He chuckled as he pushed her shirt off her shoulders. “I was sorely tempted that summer. There you were, prancing around in your short shorts and bikini top, working in your grandmother’s garden while I mowed the lawns. You must have known you were driving me crazy.”

Actually, she hadn’t known. He’d done a great job of ignoring her and making her believe she was nothing but a nuisance. She looked up at him, tilting her head to one side. “If you were so tempted, why did you tell me to take a hike when I tried to seduce you?”

“You were fifteen, Blair. Three years younger than me and just a kid. If you’d known what I wanted to do with you…” His unfinished sentence shimmered between them.

He was such an honorable man. He hadn’t wanted to take advantage of a young girl with a case of raging hormones and too little sense. A girl who believed her only worth was in what her body could give to a boy.

“Perhaps you can show me now.” Blair slowly lowered the zipper of his pants. “I’m not a kid anymore.”

About Jana Richards:

When Jana Richards read her first romance novel, she immediately knew two things: she had to commit the stories running through her head to paper, and they had to end with a happily ever after. She also knew she’d found what she was meant to do. Since then she’s never met a romance genre she didn’t like. She writes contemporary romance, romantic suspense, and historical romance set in World War Two, in lengths ranging from short story to full length novel. Just for fun, she throws in generous helpings of humor, and the occasional dash of the paranormal. Her paranormal romantic suspense “Seeing Things” was a 2008 EPPIE finalist.

In her life away from writing, Jana is an accountant/admin assistant, a mother to two grown daughters, and a wife to her husband Warren. She enjoys golf, yoga, movies, concerts, travel and reading, not necessarily in that order. She and her husband live in Winnipeg, Canada. She loves to hear from readers and can be reached through her website at www.janarichards.com

  1. Hi Maddy! Thanks for having me on your blog today. I should have added that one of my favorite things to do in my free time is yoga. Fortunately for me, my yoga instructor went to online classes through Zoom as soon the pandemic started, so I was able to continue. It’s kept me going during this time.

  2. Love the sound of To Heal A Heart, Jana! And I enjoyed your interview. I enjoy ‘meeting’ another person who loves to read that much! And I sure do share your feelings about your own messy desk. Mine may look messy, but I know where everything is! Looking forward to ready this latest book! Best of luck.

  3. Thanks for stopping by Barbara. Let’s say I ‘mostly’ know where everything is! Funny about reading during the pandemic. I usually have a couple of books on the go, maybe a print or ebook and an audiobook at the same time. But during the pandemic I found it hard to read, which is odd for me. I’m hoping things get back to normal soon, in a lot of different ways.
