Only a Good Man Will Do

The Good Man series, Book 1

Q&A with Dee S. Knight:

Where is your favorite place to write?
I’m sometimes more productive if I sit at the desktop in the office, but I prefer to write in the living room with my feet up. I use the laptop connected to the TV or my Alphasmart.

What inspires you as an author?
The chance to be creative. I don’t really have a muse. I just like making up stories, seeing how I can manipulate the characters and come up with a happy ending. And I generally write for myself. I figure (I hope!!) that if I like my work someone else will, too.

Why do you write romance and why your genre of romance?
I really, truly believe in love. I met my husband when I was 13; we started dating when I was 15. He told me then that we would get married someday, and when I graduated from college we did it. Now, after 46 years as his wife, we still make each other think and laugh. He’s the reason I write romance, so maybe I have a muse after all.

What are you working on next and when can we expect to see it?
I’m working on Book 2 of The Good Man series, called One Woman Only. I’m planning on having it finished by the end of the summer.

What would you do if you couldn’t write?
Well, I’m retired now, so if I didn’t write I’d sit around all day eating bon-bons and reading. (I sort of do that now except for the bon-bons.) Before I retired I was a technical writer and professional editor so I suppose I’d still be doing that work.

How do you spend your free time?
READING!!! And we enjoy traveling whenever we can.

Do you listen to music when you write? What is your go-to playlist and why?
I like quiet when I write. Otherwise, I find myself singing along. When I’m not writing or doing mindless tasks like chopping veggies for dinner, I like classic country.

How do you, your friends and your fans encourage you when you need a pick-me-up?
I ask everyone not to “encourage” me. I prefer to be kicked in the rear end, so that’s what I ask them to do. “You need to suck it up and get to work, or else!” Of course, whoever says it has to be someone I fear or it doesn’t make a big difference. 😉

About Only a Good Man Will Do:

Seriously ambitious man seeks woman to encourage his goals, support his (hopeful) position as Headmaster of Westover Academy, and be purer than Caesar’s wife. Good luck with that!
Daniel Goodman is a man on a mission. He aims to become headmaster of Westover Academy. For that he needs a particular, special woman to help him set high standards. Into his cut and dried life of moral and upright behavior, comes Eve Star, formerly one of Europe’s foremost exotic dancers. Her life is anything but cut and dried, black and white. Daniel is drawn to her like a kid to chocolate. Nothing good can come of this attraction. Or can it? He is after all, a good man.

About Dee S. Knight:

A few years ago, Dee S. Knight began writing, making getting up in the morning fun. During the day, her characters killed people, fell in love, became drunk with power, or sober with responsibility. And they had sex, lots of sex. Writing was so much fun Dee decided to keep at it. That’s how she spends her days. Her nights? Well, she’s lucky that her dream man, childhood sweetheart, and long-time hubby are all the same guy, and nights are their secret. 1. This was fun to read. I love childhood sweethearts that end up married! And I was laughing when I read how writing makes it fun to get up in the morning. What a wonderful way to spend retirement! It beats bon bons any day!!

  2. Hi:
That was such a romantic story about your husband at age fifteen. With a love like yours it is no wonder why you write such wonderful love stories.
