Maddy’s What to Read Next, Gem of Week and a little boost for Authors

What to Read Next: Restless Rancher by Jennifer Ryan

My assistant Crystal has another book that she just loved that she would like to share with you this week. This lady reads a lot so give her and me some suggestions on what we should be adding to our what to read next list. Tell us about your favorite books. You just might see your suggestion here. Take it away, Crystal!

Thank you so much for letting me share Restless Rancher this week. Jennifer Ryan not only has a great way of telling a cowboy story but this lady rocks at Romantic Suspense too. Restless Rancher is a supreme example of Ms. Ryan’s incredible talent. I absolutely loved the first book in the Wild Rose Ranch series and I was so excited to get this book in my hands so that I could devour it and devour it I did! I could not put down the Restless Rancher. The storyline is pivoting and so captivating. The characters are charismatic, easy to relate to and I remembered meeting them in Dirty Little Secret. So I settled in for a good read and I sure was not disappointed.

So if you enjoy a great Cowboy Story then you really must grab this one, if you love Ms. Ryan’s work as I do, then you need to grab this book, if you love a great story with plenty of drama with some tough issues then you need to grab this book! Grab the first book while you are shopping, you are going to love them both!

Gem of the Week: Tis the Season:

Lifetime and Netflix have joined Hallmark this year to offer hours and hours of Christmas romance movies. Need your HEA mixed with a bit of eggnog and mistletoe? These folks have it. Twenty four hours a day! There are even movies in theaters that I suspect would be better on the big screen.

Hallmark has an app to keep track of their movies, or to buy Hallmark branded Christmas gear, just hit their website. A few of my favorite items are on Amazon with free shipping. Perfect gift for the romance watcher on your list (or you) is the blanket and, of course the socks, good for men or women.

Trust me, binge-watching Hallmark movies is trending this year as it did last year, just with more networks getting in the game. Here’s a great article about the business of Christmas movies from the NY Times.

Just for Authors: Writing Productivity through the Roof

We are almost at the halfway point for National Novel Writer’s Month #NANOWRIMO, and I am pretty proud of myself for being halfway to my commitment – 50,000 words in one month. Feels like a lot to me, or it did until I heard Amanda Lee interviewed on The Self-Publishing Show, the podcast from Mark Dawson’s Self Publishing Formula. Amanda writes 9,000 words a day, five days a week, and not just during November. You read that right – 180,000 words each month.

That’s two books every month, and she edits that much too! I wasn’t sure if I was inspired or disheartened at first, but ultimately I have to say, Amanda has fueled my desire to do more. Want to learn her secrets? Get your inspiration from the YouTube video here, read the transcript here, or listen via your usual podcast service. You won’t regret it. If nothing else, she tells some wonderful, if gruesome, stories from her time as a reporter.
