A Date for the Wedding, a contemporary romance from Evangeline Evans

We are so excited this week to host  Evangeline Evans and her newest release A Date for the Wedding, A Date for the Wedding is A Sweet Spicy Small Town Romance and a Lafayette Falls Romance.

Q&A with Evangeline Evans:

Q: Why do you write romance and your genre?
A: I write romance because I enjoy it. I like feel-good stories with heroes and heroines that are meant for each other. I love writing the attraction and uncertainty that comes with falling in love, along with the passion. Plus humor is a must, along with family and friends.

Q: Where is your favorite place to write?
A: My favorite place to write is what I call my “writing cave.” It’s actually two bedrooms in my house that I converted into an office/writing room a long time ago. Overall, it is where I spend most of my time. I can’t imagine writing anywhere else.

Q: Do you listen to music when you write?
A: Yes. Always. I love music. I have stereo speakers set up in the writing cave. I make individual playlists that I use as “soundtracks” for different books. It depends on the story I’m writing as to the kind of music that is playing. I stream music from Pandora and Napster and have hundreds of playlists.

Excerpt from A Date for the Wedding:

Molly took another drink of water and leaned against the barre for no apparent reason other than it offered a semblance of support.

Travis stopped a couple of feet from her and took in the well-lit open space that was the largest room in the studio. Sparkling letters spelling out the words Dance Your Dreams hung from the ceiling. On the back wall were a collection of large posters featuring dancers and motivational quotes.

“Your student, Ella Grace Lowe, is my niece.”

A conversation starter, Molly decided. “Yes, Ella Grace is very talented and I enjoy working with her.”

“She loves dancing. I’ve never been in a dance studio before.” He glanced at the wall of full-length dance mirrors that reflected their images. He smiled at her via their reflections.

She noticed he had a charismatic smile that added crinkles at the corners of his eyes and gave him something of a mischievous appearance as if he would be up for getting into trouble at any given moment. A man like that might be fun. Or not.

She decided to focus on the mirrors. “The studio mirrors are important. When you’re working on learning a position or perfecting it, the mirrors provide feedback a dancer can use to check their line and the shape of their movements,” she told him, sounding all professional and serious. “You see yourself as the audience sees you. And when I’m working with a group of dancers, I use the mirrors to help with placement.”

“Makes sense.” He smiled again.

She was certain if she took him to Brianna’s wedding, she’d be the envy of all the single women there. Feeling unnerved by the awareness that centered in her belly, she took another drink of water. It might have helped if she had been drinking something stronger than water. She wiped her wet lips. “Is this regarding Ella Grace?”

He cleared his throat. “No.” He smiled at her. “I saw online that you offered ballroom dancing classes. I’d like to sign up.”

“What?” She couldn’t suppress her disbelief. Had she heard him correctly? She gave her head a tilt. “Ballroom dancing?”

Moving closer, he rested his hand on the barre beside hers. His aftershave or cologne, whichever one, was a seductive mix of light musk and sandalwood. She folded her arms to keep from doing some stupid like touching him.

She cut her eyes toward him. “Have you ever done any ballroom dancing?”

“Nope,” he admitted with a flirty grin. “But I’m sure I’ll enjoy it.”

“Do you know what ballroom dancing is?”

“I do.”

“Did you Google it?”

“Yeah, I did,” he admitted, being impossibly cute at the moment.

It was easy to see how he had become a well-known heartbreaker. He was so out of her league. She moved from the barre, putting distance between them as she set her water bottle on the table beside her phone. “I don’t want to discourage you.”

“You won’t. I don’t discourage easily.” He pinned her with an unrelenting gaze.

She fiddled about the table, unnerved. He did meet all her criteria when it came to her date for the wedding. A sexy no-strings-attached heartbreaker. Suddenly, she felt as if going to the wedding alone would be less risky.
